Courses and Workshops
We offer a range of introductory courses that are practical and designed to get you started if you are a beginner as well as offering those who are already familiar with working in glass an opportunity to build on their skills and try new techniques.
Classes are limited to small groups (up to six students) so attention is ensured. You will be taught through demonstration, group and individual instruction and hands on experience. Working with an experienced artist and tutor, you can expect by the end of each workshop, to have completed a small panel, or decorative sample of glass, depending on your interest
Taking place over two consecutive Saturdays this workshop offers an opportunity to focus on any specific technique you choose from leading a glass panel to painting or fusing glass. Class numbers are small so individual attention is assured. Suitable for all levels.
Glass will be available for you to purchase on the premises to maximise your personal choice.
Fusing and slumping course
Try your hand - or improve your skills at glass fusing. The compelling technique of layering glass to create small dishes, bowls or art-works. We will use coloured glass, frits (crushed and powdered glass) paint and enamels to create unique effects. The first Saturday will cover all that you need to know about the basics of fusing. We will then design and create pieces to be fused in the kiln overnight. They will then be slumped (placed into a mould and softly shaped in the kiln) during the following week and before the next Saturday of the course.
Building from the knowledge you will gained you will then have another opportunity to design, cut, add embellishments and fuse again. These pieces will then be fired in the kiln overnight and slumped during the following week. They can be collected from the studio or we can post to you for a small extra cost.
Glass will be available for you to purchase at the studio to give you maximum choice. There will be enamels, paints and some frits included in the course fee as well as the use of all tools and equipment.
